Strength gains vary depending on the workout performed as well as the recovery time between workouts. The most effective strength training programs include at least a 48-hour recovery period between workouts for individual muscle groups.

Body fat reduction is best achieved when regular aerobic exercise is combined with a total body strength program. The strength training causes slight muscle growth that results in higher daily caloric expenditure. The aerobic exercise also contributes to higher caloric expenditure.
